The 4 Best Things About Moving in Spring
Research shows that Spring is the best time to move.
Here are the top 4 reasons for the season.
ONE – No One Else is Moving
Fewer people move in the spring time. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, about 40 million people moved last year and approximately 45 percent of those moves occurred between the months of June, July, and August. Summer is the peak season for moving because school is out, and people generally have more time on their hands. Though most people do not have summers off there is still a segment of the population that has a long summer break, like teachers. Others have more time off during the summer because of vacation hours.
Moving in the spring can be a significant cost saver and a convenience factor because moving companies like T-N-T Moving Systems will have more dates available and will be juggling fewer customers!
TWO – The Weather
Nothing beats spring weather. The sun is shining most of the time and the temperature is perfect for hauling boxes around, especially when moving upstairs. The first day of spring this year is March 20th, and the last Day is June 20th. The weather in Charlotte after March 20th of last year averaged around a cool 75 degrees Fahrenheit, with the coolest temperatures around 71 at the beginning of spring and the hottest around 80 toward the end of spring.
THREE – Spring Break
One of the most popular reasons that people move in the summer is because of the long break for kids. It’s easier to move kids around if school isn’t in session. Additionally, school grades are not affected because kids don’t miss any classes during this time. Fortunately there is a smaller spring break in the middle of the last school quarter that makes a perfect time to move with kids. The official spring break for Charlotte schools is April 1st through 5th this year, and the last day of the school year is June 7th. The price of a new home or a new rental will likely make a leap shortly after school ends.
FOUR – Spring is Selling Season
Many news outlets, including USA Today, have reported that spring is often the peak season for selling a home. If you are clearing the clutter out of your home to get it ready for the home market spring may be the perfect time to move all that stuff that has been piling up in the attic or basement.
Amie Gallagher, a local Charlotte, NC Realtor, shared that “Homes show their best in the spring because of the sunny skies. Everyone is spring cleaning and homes are organized. And the first thing people notice about a home in the spring is the beautiful landscaping outside. As buyers drive up to a home their first impression is flowers blooming and pretty lush shrubbery.” (Keller Williams Realty, 704-661-8834)
