Top Retirement Destination: Charlotte and the Surrounding Area

Charlotte, NC Movers, Moving to Charlotte

Florida has been the top destination for retirees for decades, but North Carolina is rapidly becoming a contender. Many retirees have chosen to settle in North Carolina for the affordable cost of living, access to the great outdoors, and Southern culture. North Carolina has also been wooing retirees with tax breaks that are hard to beat.

Many retirees are looking to relocate to escape harsh winters. “We moved down here from New Jersey almost 20 years ago,” says Todd Koepke , co-owner of T-N-T Moving Systems. “The mild winters are one of Charlotte’s biggest draws.” Todd Koepke and Tom Tulowiecki started their moving company in Charlotte in 1995 and have enjoyed helping clients transition to Charlotte and the surrounding area since day one.

Why Charlotte?

The Visitor Association in Charlotte has a slogan- “Charlotte’s Got A Lot.” This slogan rings true for many retirees. On top of the tax incentives provided by the state, Charlotte offers a big city culture, a reasonable cost of living and low median home prices of $139,000. The Charlotte Douglas International airport makes it easy to travel almost anywhere. With professional sports uptown, the US White Water center, and a prime location between the mountains and beach, Charlotte indeed has a lot for retirees.

Why North Carolina?

Since the tax incentives are state wide, all retirees to North Carolina will receive the same benefits. For those who would rather live in a small town, North Carolina has plenty to offer. Recently, Movoto Real Estate complied a list of the Top Ten cities to Retire to in North Carolina with Morrisville, NC taking the number one spot. Again, the cost of living, southern culture, and access to outdoor activities were some of the prime reasons to retire in this area.

Why T-N-T Moving Systems?
