Job-related moves are the number one cause for relocating. This is especially true for Military families. Many people are willing to move to a new city, state, or country if the job is right. But it is also true for people just wanting a shorter commute to work.
House is too small. When families grow, often there is a need for a bigger house and more space. The addition of children or older parents can cause Americans to move.
House is too big. Downsizing to a smaller home is often a good option when the children have moved out of the family home. A smaller house is easier to maintain and often less expensive.
The Grass is always greener. As time passes, and incomes grow, people often want to upgrade to larger or more luxurious homes. Or move to a new area that has better climate or amenities.
Marital Status. When couples move in together or get married, it is natural to want to find a new place together. This can help alleviate feelings of “yours” and “mine”, and help create a feeling of “ours.” Of course, if the couple breaks up another reason to move is created.
Pursuing A Dream. Sometimes people just get an itch to go after something they’ve always wanted. As Americans, pursuing a dream seems to be in our DNA. Even without the safety net of a new job, we will often make a drastic change in order to realize a life-long goal.
